Abstract

Background: Indonesia experienced an increase in the number of disasters and crime rates in 2022, many severed ears are found in criminal cases, so a tool is needed to identify ears, namely ear prints. Ear prints require several aspects of ear characteristics to be identified including ear shape, size, and symmetry. Therefore, research is needed to determine the shape, size, and symmetry of the structure of the earlobe in each individual.

Method: This research is a descriptive study with a cross-sectional method using primary data obtained from ear measurements using digital calipers. The sampling technique used consecutive sampling. Data was processed using the Microsoft Excel 2019 application with univariate analysis.

Results: Research was conducted on 106 samples of Banjar Sangging, Sibang Kaja Village residents aged 12-60 years. Most of the samples had oval ears (70.3%). The ear parameter with the largest size is ear length with an average of 62.18±5.07 mm. There are no two or more individuals who have the same ear size in all parameters. Males had larger ear sizes on both sides than females in most parameters, except ear length below the tragus on the right side (Male=18.50±2.90, Female=18.69±3.31). Adults (19-60 years) have larger ear sizes on both sides than children (12-18 years), except for the ear width parameter on the left side (Children=27.93±2.33, Adults=27.89±2.86), ear length above the tragus on the right side (Children=23.29±2.87, Adults=23.19±2.78), right side concha width (Children=22.37±2.48, Adult=21.39±2.62), left side concha width (Children=21.81±1.75, Adult=20.98±2.53), left side lobule height (Children=5.55±3.39, Adults=5.17±3.71), right side lobule width (Children=21.42±3.64, Adults=20.41±2.76), and left side lobule width (Children=21.58±3.44, Adults=20.93±2.27). Most of the samples had symmetrical ears (99.1%).

Conclusion: Most of the people of Banjar Sangging, Sibang Kaja Village, Abiansemal, Badung have oval ears, ear sizes vary between individuals, men have larger ears than women, adults have larger ears than children, and most ears are symmetrical.

Sebagian besar sampel memiliki telinga simetris (99,1%).

Kesimpulan: Masyarakat Banjar Sangging, Desa Sibang Kaja, Abiansemal, Badung sebagian besar memiliki bentuk telinga oval, ukuran telinga yang bervariasi antar individu, laki-laki memiliki ukuran telinga lebih besar dibandingkan perempuan, orang dewasa memiliki ukuran telinga lebih besar dibandingkan anak-anak, dan sebagian besar telinga simetris.
